About

Art should be authentic. Maze Bound Films is an independent film production company that puts budding creativity at the forefront of every project. From original filmmaking or promotional campaigns, we aim to imbue originality and emotional authenticity throughout the whole creative process; in scriptwriting, cinematography and post-production.

Film is a collaborative process. From the runners, all the way to executive producers, we believe community is the key to creativity. Founded by three friends who grew tired of the current working landscape; Maze Bound promotes a more equal and open environment in which all cast and crew have the opportunity to contribute their talents.

From the ground up. At Maze Bound, we have made a commitment to use profit as a means of growth. Every one of our productions is enhanced by previous experience; whether that be promotional material, documentaries or narrative films. We reinvest a percentage of our earnings into the next creative project, encouraging the expansion of our cinematic capabilities.

Co-Directors

  • Sam Roy

    Director

Originally from Sleaford, Lincolnshire, Sam moved to London in 2019 to study Media and Communications at Goldsmiths University and fell into Directing in his third year. Since finishing his first film 'Don't Tell The Boys', he has gone on to write and direct a number of his own films before co-founding Maze Bound at the start of 2024.

Fascinated by the social realism genre and themes of masculinity and inheritance, Sam takes pride in identifying himself as a generalist. Alongside shooting his own films, he has worked in freelance videography roles, post-production houses, he currently advises on filmmaking courses at his old university and uses this experience to inform his creative and logistical processes. He feels strongly that, while its impossible to be an expert in all areas, a good director is someone who understands the filmmaking process in its entirety. He believes that a director should be able to speak with competence and clarity to any member of the crew, at any point of production, steering all projects to a precise destination.

At Maze Bound, Sam will often be involved in projects from beginning to end. Though predominantly involved in ideas development and running shoot days, he has also post-produced larger projects and revels in day-to-day communication with clients.
